e-Billing Portal Could Save Providers $4.8B a Year

Vendors must be coming at health care providers from every which way these days, promising the moon. One area that’s especially active is electronic billing. This is good news for providers on several fronts: They’ll have more choices for EHR adoption, and more patients pay their bills on time, according to one company.

A Kentucky IT firm called ZirMed says it can reduce paper billing costs for providers, and make the facilitation of claims easier for patients with its Patient Notebook website.

Health care providers can post electronic statements on the portal through a secure infrastructure. Patients can then view, manage and pay their statements, according to a news release by ZirMed. The e-statement includes delivery information and payment transaction details.
